Thermal printers use paper, tape, ribbon, and other materials instead of ink to create labels and signage. There are two types of thermal printing: direct thermal and thermal transfer. Printers that do not require toner, ink cartridges, or ribbons generate thermal receipts. Heat-sensitive paper, which is more expensive than regular printing paper, is used instead.
Thermal receipts, on the other hand, are less expensive to produce than other types of receipts. Thermal printing (also known as direct thermal printing) produces a printed image by selectively heating thermal paper as it passes through the print head. When heated, the heat-sensitive paper's coating turns black, producing the desired image.
